A mala necklace is more than a piece of jewelry, it's an intention
A mala necklace has a rich spiritual tradition. The 108 beads have traditionally been used in meditation and for counting mantras, each bead representing a moment of conscious attention. The guru bead, the centerpiece of the mala, symbolizes connection with yourself and your intention.
The malas I make are handmade from genuine gemstones, carefully selected for their energy and quality. Whether you use the mala for meditation, wear it as a necklace, or wrap it as a bracelet, it adapts to you.
Every gemstone has its own effect. Choose a stone that aligns with what you need at this moment: peace, protection, love, or strength. You can find more about the meaning of the different gemstones on the gemstones page.

Frequently asked questions
Why does a mala have 108 beads?
The number 108 is sacred in both Hinduism and Buddhism. It represents the fullness of the universe, with 108 names for God, 108 energy points in the body, and 108 earthly desires in the Buddhist tradition, among other things. During meditation, you count one mantra or breath with each bead, creating 108 conscious moments of attention. The guru bead, the 109th bead, is at the beginning and end of the mala and symbolizes your intention or teacher.
How do I use a mala necklace for meditation?
Hold the mala in your right hand and start with the bead next to the guru bead. Move your thumb from bead to bead, each bead representing one repetition of your mantra or one conscious breath. Traditionally, you do not use your index finger. When you reach the guru bead, turn around and go back; you never cross over the guru bead. If you are not using a mantra, you can also express an intention or gratitude with each bead.
Can I wear a mala necklace as a bracelet too?
Yes. A mala necklace of 108 beads is long enough to wrap around your wrist three times; this is what we call a wrap bracelet. This is a popular way to keep the mala close to you outside of meditation time. Please note: do not wear your mala during exercise, showering, or sleeping to protect the beads and the material.
Which gemstone mala suits me?
The choice of a mala gemstone is personal and depends on what you need at this moment. Labradorite offers protection and insight, ideal for meditation focused on transformation. Rose quartz supports self-love and inner peace. Amethyst deepens meditation and strengthens intuition. Clear quartz enhances the effect of all other stones and brings clarity. Trust your feelings; the mala that appeals to you is often the mala you need.
